It boasts of the Bonn Museum Mile (Museumsmeile) located from the Südstadt to Bad Godesberg. Within this stretch that is several kilometers long, you will find some of Bonn’s finest museums including one that your kids will probably enjoy even more than you (Haus der Natur).

The City Museum is housed within City Hall and documents the history and the development of the city itself. It bears themed rooms containing paintings, photographs, documents, artifacts, period furnishings and various local antiquities.

The House of Nature is home to stuffed animals from the local woods, such as foxes, magpies and badgers. It even features an ancient slice of wood an elm tree planted in Napoleon’s year of birth.

Beuel Homeland Museum was established privately in the mid 1980s and is located in the oldest half-timbered house in Beuel. Its rooms exemplify typical trades for Beuel, like sea transport, fishing, laundry and traditional crafts. Exhibits date back to the Stone Age including a one-man bunker in the square and a 500kg shell, which blew up in the city in WWII.

The German Museum of Bonn is located in Plittersdorf along the Ahrstrasse. It was founded in 1995 and houses over 100 exhibits documenting the advancement of technologies, research and science over the past six decades. Highlights include a futuristic-looking monorail train parked at the entrance and a gift shop where you can purchase your own scientific experiments.
Open: Tuesday to Sunday – 10:00 to 18:00
